Just a gimmick? A distraction from actual work? Somehow unprofessional? A quiz app is anything but that. The following examples show that investing in a quiz app can really pay off – whether in sales, for training apprentices, or for use in schools. Many companies are already using this innovation.
The more field staff a company has, the more cumbersome it is to bring the team together to inform them about new products. Not to mention the high costs involved: travel to and from the venue, accommodation costs, potential training fees, premises, catering, lost working hours, and so on.
A quiz app simplifies learning regardless of time and place and has many other advantages. The learning method is considered particularly effective because it is fun and very motivating. In addition, every employee can learn at their own pace and receives direct feedback on their success – an additional incentive to learn.
apoBank has been working with a quiz app since October 2018. Britta Ludowig, responsible for personnel development, told us: “When learning content is offered optionally and methodically with game-based elements, learners act in a self-directed and intrinsically motivated way as soon as the topic is personally relevant to them. We hope this will lead to a positive learning experience!” Already in the pilot phase, 400 consultants successfully used the app. By now, there are many more. A complete success. The solution was even awarded the Comenius EduMedia Seal 2019 this summer.
“Pure knowledge transfer is no longer enough,” says Rainer Horn, Head of Training and Education at Wüstenrot. That is why Wüstenrot AG has been relying on the keelearning app for over three years. Horn describes: “We reach our field staff directly without wasting time. The competitive nature promotes learning motivation.” 1,400 field staff members use this modern medium to further their education. Read more here.
Coordinating the knowledge of approximately 4,000 field staff members is the challenge faced by Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG. Every employee must always be up to date, and the subject areas are very diverse: from home savings and construction financing to "Wohn-Riester" and consulting. In the video, Anja Holzweißig, Consultant for Communication and Learning 3.0, explains how Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall benefits from the quiz app.
Especially for young employees, it is important to present oneself as a modern employer. After all, in times of a shortage of skilled workers, it is not exactly easy to win the best personnel for oneself. A quiz app can motivate apprentices to perfectly acquire important content. This experience was also had by the GenoAkademie, the largest cooperative educational institution in Germany for banks and cooperatives in the areas of personnel development, seminars, and e-learning. The Geno learning app offers the ideal incentive for apprentices to learn in a playful way and also makes it possible to simulate a test and thus prepare ideally for intermediate or final examinations. But a quiz app can be used not only in the private sector, but also at schools and colleges or universities. Not least since the decision for the "DigitalPakt Schule" (Digital Pact for Schools), this topic should be more relevant than ever.
If even politicians from the Bundestag take the time to quiz against students, then that is probably a very good sign. This is exactly what happens in the project of the Institute for Didactics of Democracy of Prof. Dirk Lange at the Leibnitz University Hannover. There, it was recognized that the EU is a very complex topic for students. With “Clarify,” a didactic concept has been developed that enables the autonomous exploration of content. One module is the quiz app, where knowledge can be tested against each other and even against politicians. Read more about this in our press release.
The example of the Bauhaus University in Weimar shows that a quiz app can be a successful change from cramming just with books. In the course “Urban Water Management” by Prof. Dr. Jörg Londong, the seminar participants answered 20,000 questions correctly in the first learning phase alone. The fun factor spread quickly, and so students from other disciplines soon registered and started learning as well. A great success that is to be extended to an entire master's degree program in the field of environment.

By the way: We have already been awarded five times for our learning app – the focus was on the gamification factor and the high degree of innovation, among other things. Find out more about our recent successes here.
