[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]E-learning platforms are not just interesting for companies. Employees also have the opportunity to further their education easily and conveniently with this type of continuing education. Whether paid for by the company – or out of their own pocket. The range of offers is extremely diverse and wide-ranging, making it easy to lose track. The good thing about the large range of learning opportunities, however, is that some e-learning tools for companies as well as for private individuals are – at least partially – free of charge. Get an overview in this article of the platforms that are specifically geared towards e-learning for companies.

Content:

  1. E-learning providers that provide free open-source e-learning platforms for companies.
  2. Authoring tools: E-learning software for companies that want to design their own e-learning in the company completely from scratch.
  3. Video conferencing tools - useful for the e-learning business as well.
  4. General advanced training courses: E-learning companies for everyone.
  5. Ready-to-use LMS platforms and learning management systems with support.

For companies, there are many good reasons to further educate employees using an e-learning platform. The most important reason is likely the financial aspect. Because with "e-learning online," companies save the costs of expensive face-to-face training. However, e-learning for companies is also worthwhile for employees, because learning takes place regardless of time and location – e-learning platforms are flexible and always accessible! Most e-learning providers that provide e-learning for companies do not make them available for free. But there are also e-learning providers with whose support an e-learning platform can be created for free, in which all employees can participate:

E-learning providers that provide free open-source e-learning platforms for companies.

There are so-called open-source solutions, which are called that because the source code for the application is open, or free for everyone who can and wants to work with it. Here is an overview of e-learning tools:

  1. Moodle

Moodle is free and flexible to use. It is one of the best-known e-learning platforms worldwide and is used in approx. 100,000 educational institutions. In universities and schools just as much as in companies, associations, or administrative facilities. The catch? To implement, maintain, and manage the e-learning platform, you need someone who is well-versed in it. And such experts are usually not to be had for free either …

  1. Ilias

Ilias is also an open-source learning management system that is used in universities, schools, but also in the private sector and the public service. To set up this learning platform software, you ideally also need skills as a software developer. For beginners and everyone else, however, operation can turn out to be a small to medium-sized challenge. The Ilias community is on hand to help and advise in this regard.

  1. OpenOlat

OpenOlat is not the largest e-learning portal, but it is an interesting open-source learning platform for companies. With the help of the Java programming language, companies, academies, and other educational institutions can create their own e-learning platform. OpenOlat stands for Open Online Learning And Training.

Authoring tools: E-learning software for companies that want to design their own e-learning in the company completely from scratch.

An e-learning platform for companies where learning content is not hosted and managed, but on which you can develop learning content yourself in a didactically sensible way, is called authoring software or an authoring tool.

  1. Articulate 360

Articulate 360 is a well-known e-learning software for companies. The renowned American company is one of the leading e-learning software providers worldwide in this field – with a product that can be used to create e-learnings for companies in a professional manner. Thanks to the free trial version, you can try out whether you like developing interactive courses. After a few months, however, the regular price must be paid. Professionals can use the tool to design and implement attractive e-learning courses for companies.

  1. Adobe Captivate

Online training courses can also be created with Adobe Captivate. For companies, this software also offers the possibility to develop professional web-based trainings, interactive videos, and courses for employees. Here, one can (as with Articulate) fall back on ready-to-use elements. In general, however, one should not underestimate the creation of e-learning courses for companies. Because these tools do not do the content-related, conceptual, and didactic development!

  1. Camtasia

When listing useful e-learning tools for companies, Camtasia must not be missing. Camtasia 2020 is a screencast classic for Windows and macOS. With the software's editor, different video formats can be edited to turn raw material into a professional screencast. This way, you can cut learning videos, reassemble them as desired, and add an audio track. A must-have for all companies that want to produce their e-learning solutions themselves.

Video conferencing tools - useful for the e-learning business as well.

  1. Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams has found its place in many companies worldwide, at the latest since the pandemic. But the collaboration tool can also be quite useful as an e-learning platform for companies. Especially if the learning management system used does not have a webinar function. With MS Teams, end-to-end encryption can be activated, documents can be edited simultaneously, and video and audio quality are good.

  1. Zoom

Companies that would like to offer e-learning for their employees and are looking for a video conferencing tool will certainly also come across the provider Zoom. Although Zoom was also not explicitly developed for e-learning in companies, it can also be used for larger group meetings with up to 1000 users. For example, 49 video streams can be displayed simultaneously. Simultaneous screen sharing is also possible with this application.

  1. GoTo Meeting

You can also conveniently hold web conferences and online meetings with GoTo Meeting – according to the provider, there are already more than 80 million per year. That definitely speaks for the video tool in HD quality, which offers, among other things, a preview of your own webcam and can thus protect against unpleasant surprises. On the topic of security: GoTo is also not a classic e-learning provider for companies, but still a useful collaboration app that offers single sign-on, encrypted sessions, participant exclusion, and meeting locking.

General advanced training courses: E-learning companies for everyone.

  1. LinkedIn Learning

For most, LinkedIn is certainly known as a social media platform. But LinkedIn – an e-learning company? Absolutely correct, because LinkedIn Learning, a subsidiary of LinkedIn, offers a multitude of advanced training courses for personnel development. The courses and tutorials are video-based and revolve around the topics of software, business, and creativity in the business environment. The first month is free, after which costs are incurred.

  1. Udemy

Udemy has an even larger course offering: With over 183,000 online video courses, you can optimize your chances on the job market here. In-demand skills on topics such as programming, business, personal development, marketing, or design provide employees with a lot of learning material. The prices are acceptable. Also for private individuals who want to improve their career opportunities. Because Udemy is not exclusively an e-learning provider for companies.

  1. Google Digital Garage

E-learning in companies is possible in many ways, e.g., also with Google – and what some do not know: all courses here are free of charge. Only for certification are fees incurred for some courses. From beginners to advanced users, you will find interesting learning content on topics such as online marketing, data, or career development. As a company, would you like to offer your employees e-learning that is fun, helps them progress, and is free on top of that? You will find what you are looking for here.
