It is one of the most valuable professions there is, but also one of the jobs that is particularly demanding. Work in elderly and nursing care is time-consuming and requires regular further training. Only with knowledge of the latest requirements of nursing management and modern technologies can the high degree of professionalism be maintained. If nursing staff cannot make it to day-long training courses, further training comes to elderly and nursing care thanks to e-learning. These are the three advantages of offerings in the area of e-learning in elderly and nursing care:
A large proportion of the further training courses for nursing staff on offer are provided in-house. However, coordinating further training is difficult because there are sometimes complex shift systems in nursing. This is where e-learning in elderly and nursing care is just right, because it makes independent further training possible.
Elderly and nursing care is one of the promising professional sectors for the future. That is why regular further training is worthwhile here in order to qualify for new fields of responsibility and to take on more responsibility. But even here, the shift system makes attending rigid seminar series difficult: who in a nursing profession can say what the shift schedule will look like in three months? Here, too, e-learning in elderly and nursing care can make a valuable contribution: via e-learning offers, learning apps or other options for digital learning, nursing staff can continue their education after work – whenever that may be – at their own learning pace.
In order for the latest scientific findings and innovative methods to be passed on to nursing staff quickly and in a goal-oriented manner, the call for mandatory further training in elderly and nursing care is becoming ever louder. Health economist Prof. Dr. Christian Timmreck from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, together with three students from the Master's degree program in Healthcare Management, developed a study on the topic of "Further education and training in nursing professions." They surveyed around 750 nursing service managers nationwide from 140 hospitals, 319 nursing homes, and 268 outpatient care services about the current and future planning of their further education and training for nursing staff. Among the findings of the study is the realization that there should also be a legal obligation for further training in nursing. So far, only further training courses on topics such as occupational safety, fire protection, emergency management, or hygiene are mandatory. To organize these mandatory events comprehensively, e-learning can make a practical contribution. Should the legislature expand mandatory events, companies can react quickly and flexibly and create additional e-learning offers. Are you thinking about using e-learning in your healthcare company?
