Today, e-learning courses can be used to impart knowledge in a playful and sustainable way, as well as to make the onboarding of new employees more efficient. But what makes a good online course for companies and institutions? What content can be included? What formats are available? We explain this in our article!

Interactive Online Courses – The Market is Growing

E-learning is the modern form of knowledge transfer. The market is growing, and with it, the number of providers. Content of all kinds is being offered, and specializations are increasing. This does not make it easier for HR managers to find the suitable formats for their own company. In our blog post, we explain what companies should look for and which formats are best suited for sustainable e-learning with interactive learning videos.

Get to know a few elements here that can be used to motivate employees in WBTs ????

  1. Involving employees

An interactive e-learning course should, as the name suggests, also be interactive. In contrast to simple explanatory films, the viewer is encouraged to apply what has been learned. For example, in a mandatory training session on data protection, a task could be to distinguish between personal and non-personal data. Exemplary documents are clearly displayed on a sample desk, and the various documents are dragged into the corresponding categories with a mouse click.

  1. Appealing design

The simplest form of online courses is PowerPoint-like: slides are played, and you have a short time to grasp the content. The content might be conveyed this way, but it doesn't promise any joy in learning. Modern interactive learning videos are therefore characterized by their use of innovative design elements. Situations are depicted, for example, by comic-like figures or even real actors. The quality is constantly improving. The advantages are obvious: learning is easier, and the knowledge is better retained.

  1. Storytelling – packaging knowledge in stories

Everyone has probably heard of the legendary storytelling by now. But what lies behind it? It is quite simple: content is packed into stories and is thus better absorbed. Because people like stories and remember content that is integrated into them better. A good e-learning course should take advantage of that!

  1. The right format

Interactive online courses can have many different formats. Depending on the content, a live-action film, animated figures, layout techniques, branching videos, etc., make sense. Because even modern technical means should be used purposefully. Ask the e-learning provider what they "thought" about an online training session or let them advise you on which method makes sense for your individual e-learning (see also our article on the topic "What e-learning is – and what isn't")

  1. Simple integration into a Learning Experience Platform*

And last but not least: the technical aspect. A good e-learning video can be integrated into your Learning Experience Platform or Learning Management System without much effort. Ask what format the e-learning course has. Modern providers work with the xAPI format. xAPI is not only easy to integrate, but it can also interact with the e-learning software and, if desired, record learning progress.
