The corona crisis has shown: Digitalization is no longer optional. Or rather, things don't go well without it. Digital technologies have entered our working lives like never before, and it has become clear: It actually works. One of these technologies is e-learning. Although this term naturally encompasses a number of electronic learning methods, so we would like to specify: So-called Learning Management Systems (LMS for short) digitize learning in small and large companies. This has now reached most companies, and they are busily searching for the right e-learning software for their own operations. But which e-learning software makes sense?

Answer these three questions and take a big step closer to your goal. 

1. Who do you want to train with e-learning?

At the beginning of the search for the right e-learning solution, there is always the question of the target group. You should ask yourself the following questions, among others:

• What is the educational level of my employees?
• What technical background knowledge do they have?
• How motivated are my employees to continue their education?

The type of e-learning software you choose depends on the qualification level of your employees. If the educational level is lower and technical background knowledge is limited, it is advisable, for example, to choose a learning management system that is easy to use and resembles the handling structures of familiar apps such as Instagram.

The easier your employees find their way around, the higher the probability that they will learn with the e-learning software.

2. Where do you want to train your employees with e-learning?

This question is important because, depending on the location of learning, you must ensure that your e-learning software is flexible. This means: If your employees are to learn on the go on the train, the software should work flawlessly on a smartphone. Do your learners often have poor internet? Then it is important that learning content is also available offline. Ask about these functions when talking to a potential e-learning software provider.

3. What do you want to train?

Think in advance about which learning content you want to convey with the learning management system. Different learning methods make sense depending on the learning content. There are also many variants in e-learning and not every learning app covers all methods. If you want to explain to new employees in a supermarket, for example, where which items are sorted, visualization makes sense. The e-learning software should therefore enable images with descriptions.
