They are highly sought after because they have the future in their blood: "Digital Natives" are the employees of the generation that will enrich the job market with many digital skills in the coming years. These young people have grown up with smartphones and are accustomed to being connected everywhere and at all times.

This connected way of thinking is met by companies that have only just started their journey into digitalization. If these companies want to convince Digital Natives of themselves as employers in the future, they should know the demands of this target group.

1)   Transparent communication

Digital Natives rely on a supportive togetherness and permeable hierarchy levels. It is okay that there are boards and executives, but everyone should be able to get in touch and exchange ideas with each other. For consistent communication, platforms can be used, for example, on which employees can address each other and organize a conference call; messengers and employee apps are also an option.

2)   Fast knowledge paths

Digital Natives are accustomed to quickly accessing all the information they need via the internet. In a company, too, there should be optimal knowledge management so that information is available at all times. This allows employees to play their greatest trump card: fast, networked thinking and creativity.

3)   Integration of digital tools

In the best case, the new employee from the Digital Natives generation has come to the company through an effective e-recruiting campaign. This has already allowed the business to demonstrate that it is up to date with its selection of tech tools. If e-learning in the company also plays a role, that is a good start. On one hand, Digital Natives do not separate leisure and professional life very strictly; on the other hand, they change jobs more frequently than previous generations. If further training in the company is designed flexibly and provides digital tools such as learning apps for independent continuing education, employees are always up to date with the latest knowledge and can further qualify themselves regardless of location and time.
