Digitalization in companies turns everything upside down. Nevertheless, employers can view this transformation as an opportunity: many employees are willing to engage with the new digital challenges in their everyday work life. Through further training and digital tools such as e-learning, learning apps, and explanatory videos, digitalization can be firmly anchored and lived out in the corporate culture.
No employee needs to panic about losing their job when it comes to digitalization in companies. Robots, AI projects, and digital tools rarely replace jobs; much more often, they change the requirement profiles for specialists. There is an increasing need for analytical skills, a flexible mindset, and routine handling of media. Therefore, lifelong learning and continuous further education are a must for employees. Companies support this process by not shying away from digitalization, but rather by integrating it into their corporate culture. In the following, we present two industries in which digitalization and digital further training are enormously important.
In the industry, technologies have become indispensable. After the assembly line came automation, now we are moving into the Smart Factory. Employees must use IT programs, operate CNC machines, and control complex systems – this requires perfect specialist knowledge and an outstanding understanding of IT processes. Due to advancing automation, manual work steps are disappearing, but the complex processes still need to be guided by clever minds. Therefore, digitalization in companies starts with the employees themselves. Businesses can train their staff in further education regarding new technologies while using digital media themselves. Instead of presenting the new CNC milling machine in a simple PowerPoint presentation, explanatory videos are the better choice. They visualize processes and offer considerable didactic potential.
Digital tools have also become indispensable in nursing. Companies operating in the healthcare sector work with monitoring systems for process surveillance; the IT-controlled logistics in the nursing sector alone is a major task. In outpatient care, employees can be well connected with the employer with digital support. Studies show that the use of smartphones is already part of everyday working life for many nursing staff. For this reason alone, further training in nursing could be well organized via learning apps. Through this channel, nursing providers can quickly reach a large proportion of the workforce and train them sustainably and continuously on important topics.
